NAA DEDEI OMAEDRU III FROM THE GHANAIAN ANATOMY LAID TO REST HISTORICALLY

Naa Dedei Omaedru III, the Queen Mother of The Ga-Dangme Traditional Community who died on 26th December, 2022 was laid to rest in a beautiful display of colourful cultural resonance over the weekend. She is so far the Queen mother for The Ga Ethnic Group with the longest serving reign of 6 decades.

The funeral rites took place at their Palace known as the Ga Manye Palace with a service held the following day at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Accra. The Ga-Dangmes are located in the capital of Ghana; Greater Accra Region. On October 28th 2023, a curfew was ordered in the region as well as the suspension of all business and commercial activities in the region, making roads very empty and places very silent.

She passed away at the age of 88. Cultural Drummings, songs and , dances were scenes displayed at the ceremony. The Queen Mother was laid to rest finally peacefully after a year she passed and will forever be remembered as one of the great Queens to ever rule in the land of Ghana.
