DR. BAWUMIA OF THE GHANAIAN ANATOMY TOPS THE POLLS AT THE SUPER DELEGATES CONFERENCE

The next phase of representatives to vie for the position of flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party which has the incumbent Government in power under the auspices of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of The Ghanaian Anatomy, are set for for November 4th, 2023. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is currently the Vice President for The Ghanaian Anatomy was the first in the polls that took place on Saturday with 629 votes.

The New Patriotic Party amended their constitution to enable a voting process to pick out only 5 candidates where there are more than 5 contestants, who had been appended to be candidates in representing their Party ahead of any Presidential Elections. This amendment took place in 2017 after various processes begun in 2007. Ahead of the 2024 December Elections, 17 members of the party filed to be potential flagbearers. As a result, at the just ended Super Delegates Conference for the NPP on Saturday 26th August 2023, a special Electoral College also facilitated by the Electoral Commission of Ghana held an elections to for all qualified Party voters to cast their votes through a secret ballot for the shortlisting of 5 contestants.

These were the outcome of the Top 6 in the Elections. There was a tie between Francis Addai-Nimo and Boakye Agyarko and as a result, there will be a run off Elections on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia – 629 votes
Kennedy Agyapong – 132 votes
Alan Kyerematen – 95 votes
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto – 36 votes.
Francis Addai-Nimo – 9 votes
Boakye Agyarko – 9 votes

Mr. Kwadwo Alan Kyeremanteng, a former Minister of Trades and Industry condemned the Electoral process and said his Party did not pay any attention to one of his agents who was assaulted in Nalerigu in the North East Region of Ghana and will put in all possible means to rectify things on their own since they do not trust in the Party.
