“Now therefore, I, Priscilla Makanyara Chigumba, the chairperson of Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, hereby declare that, Mnangagwa Emmerson Dambudzo of ZANU PF party is declared duly elected president of the Republic of Zimbabwe with effect from 26 August 2023.”
President Mnangagwa will then stay in office for his last term from now to August 2028. The major opposition Party; Citizens Coalition for Change have stated that the Elections was characterised with malpractices and fraud and have condemned the announcement of the results as transparent.
Mr. Nelson Chamisa has stated that Mr. Mnangagwa has performed a Coup on the ballot since 2008, 2017, 2018 and 2023. Mr. Chamisa has denied the credibility of the results and has stated that he will not accept the outcome of the results. He has stated his Relentless mark to defend democracy in the nation and fight back for the National Anatomy as he claims the results were announced on a flawed process. The declaration of Mr. Mnangagwa by the Zimbabwean Electoral Commission has not gone down well with members of the Citizens Coalition for Change who have also claimed that the delay in voting was to ensure and create space for fraud in the voting process.
Mr. Chamisa says the elections fell below the guidelines of the constitution for the elections. Mr. Chamisa said there were over 3,500 assisyed voters where voting were suppressed. He said voters were intimidated and forced to vote for ZANU-PF or face death. Mr. Nelson Chamisa has stated that, this shall be challenged. He said the elections were damaged.
Mr. Chamisa says he is surprised that Mr. Mnangagwa even accepted the results because the reality of the people was not for Mr. Mnangagwa and he will fight for his National Anatomy. The Independent Electoral Commission announced Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa as the President-Elect of the Country with 52.6 percent of the total ballots.
Mr. Chamisa has thanked the citizens of Zimbabwe in general for showing resilience and calmness in the face of provocation and for all Zimbabweans from neighbouring countries who sponsored the elections and came from across the whole world to come and vote in the elections. He has thanked and showed sympathy to the voters who died in the course of waiting in the long queue to cast the vote.
