Ramadan, the nine month in the Islamic Calendar sets a specific time for Muslims to fast, engage in charity and have a steadfast communion with God. This takes place annually and is accorded as one of the five pillars of Islam. Ramadan celebrates Prophet Muhammad receiving the first verses of the Qur’an.
During this time, the Muslims fast as a reflection of their communion with God. Fasting during this time is seen as a must for all Muslims particularly with no health challenges regarding their fasting. Usually, they have their morning meal which is called Suhoor and the night feast to break their fast is called iftar. Over 1 billion Muslims worldwide are partaking in the Ramadan. This year’s Ramadan begun on 11th March and will end on April 9th, 2024.
After the Ramadan, Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid al-Adha to mark the end of their Ramadan. The Global Freedom Board of AFRICAN VOICES INTERNATIONAL wish Ambassador Umar Faruk and all Muslim Freedom Giants a Ramadan Mubarak.
