ECOWAS TO DEPLOY TROOPS TO HELP RESTORE PRESIDENT BAZOUM OF THE NIGERIEN ANATOMY

The Economic Community of West African States has ordered for Military to go to Niger to help restore Constitutional rule in the country. The decision was taken in Abuja on Thursday 11th July, 2023 as read by the President of The ECOWAS Commission; Mr. Omar Alieu Touray.

The decision by ECOWAS comes after the Nigerien Junta failed to comply with the directive issued by ECOWAS on handing over Power back to President Bazoum, whom they ousted out from power on 26th July 2023 by August 6th. The meeting was stated as an emergency meeting and was present with 11 members of the Committee.

Gen. Abdourahmane who heads the Military Junta in Niger has stated emphatically that they will kill President Mohamed Bazoum if there is any Military intervention by any foreign country or commission. President Tinubu however has also stated that, Diplomacy is the best way in resolving this Coup D’etat. President Tinubu has also stated that the use of force as a last resort to restore a Democratic Transition will not be taken off as strategies of bringing Civilian Rule back to Niger.
