Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway; The Minister of Foreign Affairs for The Ghanaian Anatomy has lambasted the Staffs and workers working at The Ghana Passport Office which falls under her Ministry, for working below standards and tolerating mediocrity in their daily activities. She has stated that a thorough investigation will take place to unveil all the perpetrators behind this menace.
Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway was very mad at how daily activities were going on at the office after paying a visit to the Passport office on Monday 14th August, 2023. She stated that most Staffs were working with unwarranted personnels in charging people seeking for new passports or renewing their passports, huge sums of money for the process.
Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway lamented on how the Government through the leadership of the Vice President of The Ghanaian Anatomy; H.E. Mahamudu Bawumia, had put in place a digitalised system to make the process easier in securing passports yet, things had been made very difficult for people in getting their passports on time.
The Honourable Minister has already relieved some workers from the office post going to the office on Monday. The Ghana Passport Office has about 90 workers at their office in Accra with only about 10 workers from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the rest from various agencies in the country. Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway has stated that she wants sanity in the department and was disgusted that people could pay up to about Ghc3000 in securing a passport.
