Veron Mosengo-Omba, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) General Secretary, has announced his departure from the role, choosing to pursue personal interests after dedicating over three decades to African football.
The move comes amidst controversy, including the AFCON final debacle where Senegal lost the title to Morocco. Mosengo-Omba however had faced criticism for exceeding CAF’s retirement age and workplace allegations, though an investigation found no wrongdoing.
CAF’s competitions director, Samson Adamu, will temporarily fill the role while a replacement is sought.
