FREE TERTIARY EDUCATION TO KICK-START – GHANAIAN ANATOMY

Dr. Ato Cassiel Forson, the Minister of Finance for the Ghanaian Anatomy, delivered the 2025 Budget Statement today, 11th March 2025, before the country’s parliament.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson stated that their government inherited an economy which was in a deep crisis. He however stated that an amount of Ghc498.8 million has been allocated for the No Academic Policy which had been promised by their Party before power, upon coming to power to provide free Tertiary Education for all first year students. Hon. Forson also stated that the GETFund Scheme, a scheme which was introduced in 2000 to finance educational institutions in Ghana, will cater for the Free Senior High School Policy, which was started by President Mahama in 2015 for day students and widened by the Akufo-Addo government for boarding school students. An amount of Ghc3.5 billion allocated for the scheme.

He reiterated the government’s policy towards ensuring the 24-hour economic policy in 3 shifts of eight hours. He promised to ensure the payments of 321 pharmacists whose salaries had not been paid since June 2023 in the country.

He also stated that the export of Ghanaian labourers to other countries will commence to help ease unemployment and create suitable paths for those seeking to work abroad.

Ghc292.4 million has also been allocated for the distribution of free sanitary pads for female students in junior and senior high schools in Ghana.

One of the notable tax removals was the elimination of the 1% E-Levy on digital transactions and removal of emissions taxes as well, helping to promote a more sufficient flow of businesses and consumer negotiations.
