Dr. Bawumia, Vice President of The Ghanaian Anatomy has stated that by the end of the year, the Government will acquire 100 electric buses as part of the “Tap and Go” system which was launched on 19th February.

The “Tap and Go” System is a system which enables people to digitally board public transport services with their electronic cards via e-cash. With the System, people can be able to buy tickets even before setting off from home. The Card registration will involve only the signing of the Ghana Card number, phone number and contact details of emergency people. The system which is beginning first with the Metro Mass Transit Limited Inter-City Services will later also involve transport sections like Trotros, VIPs, GPRTUs, VVIP and all Taxis.

This scheme which looks at bringing forth transparent services in the transport systems is meant to ensure corruption is out of order and passengers can be able to have the best of services.
