The struggle for power between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Paramilitary Rapid Suport Forces created by Ex-President of the Sudanese Anatomy; Omar-Al-Bashir have been fighting for power even post Mr. Bashir’s ousting. From April 2023, the struggle for power has led to loads of lives being displaced with over 15, 000 people dead.
The war between the Sudanese Armed Forces under Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces now under the Janjaweed leader Hemedti, started during the 2023 Ramadan.
During December 2018, there were protests against the rule of ex-president Omar al-Bashar, who had been in power for three decades. The protests led to his ousting in 2019 by the Military force via a coup d’etat and Omar al-Bashir was imprisoned. The army created a Transitional Military Council and after protests for a civilian rule from June 2019, there was a massive conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces leading to lots of people being raped and about 100 demonstrators being killed. Hemedti denied being the organiser of the attack.
In 2019, there was a shared government between both forces with a civilian government, and it was headed by Abdalla Hamdok as Prime Minister. In October 2021, the military seized power in a coup led by both forces (Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Hemedti). The Transitional Sovereignty Council reformed a new junta with Abdel Fattah al-Burhan as the new head. Tensions have still been ongoing since then.
