PROF. YEMI OSINBAJO OF THE NIGERIAN ANATOMY APPOINTED TO OBSERVE GENERAL ELECTIONS IN SIERRA LEONE

One of Africa’s Statesmen and Proactive Pan-Africanists, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo who is the immediate past Vice President for The Nigerian Anatomy has accepted the invitation from the General Secretary of The Commonwealth of Nations, The Rt Hon. Patricia Scotland KC to chair the Commonwealth Observer Group ahead of the upcoming General Elections for The Sierra Leonean Anatomy. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo of the All Progressives Congress Party; which represents the incumbent running Political Anatomy of Nigeria, has been a neutral leader who has served Nigeria on all fronts.

The Commonwealth Observer Group are groups originating from the 56 Member States in The Commonwealth of Nations which assess Elections for various National Anatomies and monitor them, provide reports and submit to the Commonwealth Secretariat for review. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo since 2015 has played a pivotal part in the Management and Leadership of the Nigerian Anatomy till 2023. He is a Lawyer by Profession and married to Oludolapo Osinbajo with three children. He studied Law at the University of Lagos from 1975 to 1978 and went to The Nigerian School of Law in 1979. In 1980, he obtained a Masters of Law Degree from The London School of Economics & Political Science. He started becoming a Lecturer from 1981 and became a Professor of Law in 1994.

These were Prof. Yemi Osinbajo’s words to Rt. Hon. Patricia Scotland KC after being invited to chair the Commonwealth Observer Group ahead of the Sierra Leonean General Elections – “I’m highly honoured by the unique opportunity to continue to bring my expertise and experience in contributing to deepening democracy especially in Africa, and the Commonwealth by extension.” These were the words of Hon. Patricia Scotland KC to Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as well – “I am grateful to His Excellency Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for accepting my invitation, to undertake this important area of our work in deepening democracy across our Commonwealth – despite his busy schedule and overseeing a seamless transition of his government. As a senior statesman from the region, H.E Osinbajo understands in depth the challenges across West Africa and I am confident he will lead a brilliant team.”
