The Military Leaders of The Malian, Burkinabe and Nigerien Anatomies who are currently heads of States for their respective countries have signed a Charter by name The Liptako-Gourma Charter which seeks to establish a mutual defense agreement, to intensify their security from all forms of external and extremist invasions.

The Liptako-Gourma bloc captures borders where these 3 countries share. And in their quest to protect their regions from any terrorist infiltration and invasion through any of the borders, they have come together to sign this deal. In 2012, terrorism sprung up in the northern section of Mali and invaded Niger and Burkina Faso through to 2015.The Charter signed between these three countries binds all three member states to collectively fight together to protect their countries from any rebellion and to defend each other in the case of any attack in any of the countries. These 3 countries are all being ruled by Military leaders who seized power from their Heads of States on account of these leaders leading dictatorially and corruptly.

These were a few words stated by Assimi Goïta of The Malian Anatomy after signing the Charter on Saturday, 16th September, 2023. – “I signed this day, and along with the interim heads of state of Burkina Faso and Niger, the charter of the Liptako-Gourma, instituting the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) with the objective of establishing a collective defense architecture and of mutual assistance to the benefit of our populations.”

The Global Freedom Board of AFRICAN VOICES INTERNATIONAL commends these three Heads of States for signing this deal. We see this as a Proactive deal towards protecting the sovereignty of their National Anatomies, from any external aggressions and Political turbulences for the Pluralistic Freedom of their countries.
