THE POLITICAL ANATOMY OF GHANA BACK TO THE INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND

2 min read

The Political Anatomy of Ghana headed by His Excellency President Nana Akufo-Addo has continued with the unbreaking record of the Government going to the International Monetary Fund for a bailout post Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s removal from office in 1966. The unbreaking record was continued as the first batch of the $3 Billion has been confirmed.

The Political Anatomy of Ghana has been going to the International Monetary Fund at all times to seek for a bailout as a result of Economic Mismanagement and Bad Government. This year under President Akufo-Addo’s reign marks the 17th time, The National Anatomy of Ghana has been recorded under the IMF, seeking for a loan. Each Government that comes to power in Ghana heaps up the economic mess, which becomes a burden on the next incoming Government. From 2000 under the fourth Republic, The New Patriotic Party and The National Democratic Congress which are the two dominant parties in Ghana, have all enjoyed two terms of office. From President Kuffuor from 2001 to 2008 under the New Patriotic Party, President Atta Mills and President John Mahama from 2009 to 2016 under the National Democratic Congress and President Akufo-Addo from 2017 who ends his term in 2024. All of these Political Parties’ Governments have gone to the IMF for a bailout. Before President Akufo-Addo’s term, President Mahama Government went to the IMF and secured a loan of $918 Million. Under President Akufo-Addo’s reign, it has shot to $3 Billion.

The Government of Ghana is looking forward to restore macroeconomic and debt sustainability, keep the mass out of abject poverty and create a formidable structure for economic recovery. Most Ghanaians are not elated with the loan. The Major Opposition Party; National Democratic Congress had also made it clear that they gave the incumbent Political Anatomy being run by President Akufo-Addo some advice to be able to proactively not fall under massive debts, but they ignored it. It is indeed time, The African Anatomy acts proactively to be able to save ourselves from massive debts and the repercussions of Bad Governance. Freedom Giant Kwindani of The Malawian Anatomy said, In every modern economy, public spending increases which creates an inevitable pressure on the economy. We must be Proactive!
