THE LESOTHO HIGHLANDS WATER PROJECT, A SIGN OF STRONG TIES BETWEEN THE BASOTHO ANATOMY AND THE SOUTH AFRICAN ANATOMY

1 min read

The Lesotho Highlands Water Project is a water supply project in which water is transported from the Highlands of Lesotho to South Africa. The project was launched in 1998 between the Basotho Government and the South African Government.

Dams, reservoirs and tunnels were constructed in Lesotho to supply water to South Africa and over the years, this project has been very monumental as it has served as a blessing to many people from South Africa. Most commercial farms as well in South Africa receive supply of water from the Lesotho Highlands and most areas with drought and low rainfall also receive water supply constantly from the Lesotho Highlands.

The project will be suspended in October 2024 for maintenance works on the tunnels. The Global Freedom Board of AFRICAN VOICES INTERNATIONAL commends both National Anatomies for the strong ties, they have continuously developed. This is an evidence of the African Anatomy, we want.
