Thursday June 22nd saw a horrific scene in the peacefully lived country Ghana, as a Police Officer from their Anatomy who served as an escort to a bullion van carrying huge sums of money was shot at the Star Oil Filling Station in Ablekuma – Ghana, leading to his passing away.

On Thursday June 22nd, four Armed Robbers stormed the Petrol Station where the driver passed by to fill the van with petrol. At the station, these Armed Robbers came in and targeted the Police who was seated at the front seat of the van. The Police was shot from behind and died at the scene, but the driver left the car and sped off.

Police from The Ghanaian Anatomy are on investigations to bring to books the four Men who shot the young and energetic Police from The Ghanaian Anatomy. As at now, some people suspected to be the robbers have been arrested with investigations ongoing.

The GLOBAL FREDOM BOARD of AFRICAN VOICES INTERNATIONAL is calling upon the Bank of Ghana and The Police to get bullet proof vans to help alleviate the crimes that have been ongoing in the country. In May 2020, Robbers hijacked a bullion van at Techiman and stole Ghc 600,000. In January 2021, this similar scene took place at Fomena in the Ashanti Region with an amount of Ghc 500,000. In February, March and June of The Freedom Year 2021, Armed Robbers also attacked a bullion van at Kingsway, Baatsona and Adedenkpo. In February 2022, there was an attempted robbery at North Industrial Area. In June 2022, a Policeman and a passerby were shot dead by Armed Robbers who attempted to steal money from a Bullion Van at Korlebu. Individuals stealing money from Vans have been on the rise. Our security Institutions must proactively be on the rise so we can be able to stand against all these injustices.
