1 min read

Captain Ibrahim Traore, Head of State of the Burkinabé Anatomy has banned the use of British and French wigs that have been adopted by their judiciary, as a step in decolonising the country from foreign styles and imbibing African traditions in their judiciary.

Captain Traore in announcing the prohibition of the foreign wigs emphasised on the need for colonial systems to be abolished for the restoration of Burkina Faso’s cultural identity.

Captain Traore looks forward to totally decolonising Burkina Faso from colonial trajectories and restoring national pride to the Burkinabe Anatomy. Burkina Faso, formally called Upper Volta, gained independence from France in 1960 before changing her name to Burkina Faso in 1984.
