BASSIROU DIOMAYE FAYE OF THE SENEGALESE ANATOMY, NOW PRESIDENT-ELECT

Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, a Politician from The Senegalese Anatomy after being released from jail on 15th March 2024 has ascended to become the next President-Elect of his country. He won about 53.7% of the total votes beating Amadou Bataking with 36.2%.

Faye was imprisoned following a social media post he made on the judicial system ruling unjustly on Sonko’s legal dispute. Sonko who was also a Presidential contender was a former tax inspector and the Presidential candidate in the 2019 General Elections of which he placed third. Sonko was arrested following sexual assault allegations in 2019 and was sentenced in 2023 to 2 years in Jail. President Macky Sall decided to postpone the General Elections over people he said were unqualified candidates for the Elections. He postponed the Elections from February to December but the Constitutional Court annulled his decision and the Elections was rescheduled to take place in March 2024.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye 44 won the Elections for his Party; PASTEF. He won in place of Sonko who was disqualified. Faye was the former General Secretary of PASTEF (The African Patriots of Senegal for Work, Ethics and Fraternity). Most of the 17 candidates have conceded defeat to the young Politician; Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who was born on 15th July, 1974.
