Safiya Khalid, a Somalian refugee, at age 23, won a seat in Maine, a state in America with the largest number of whites in the state. This state also has an increasing number of blacks who have left their native countries coming to settle in the state. Congrats to Safiya Khalid. Safiya Khalid was a refugee who once lived in a refugee camp before coming to settle in the United States of America. Safiya Khalid beat a Democrat to win the chair in the City Council Elections.
