Pres. Mahama Hands Over Armoured Vehicles to Ghana Police

Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, has officially launched 40 cutting-edge armored vehicles, bolstering the Ghana Police Service’s capabilities to tackle high-risk situations and enhance national security. The convoy includes 15 robust pickups, 5 state-of-the-art Cobra-Four vehicles, and 20 specialized Cobra-Three armored cars, all equipped with advanced tech systems.

The ceremony, held at the Police Headquarters in Accra on Thursday, December 4, 2025, was attended by high-ranking government officials and top police brass. President Mahama stressed that the vehicles are meant to be used, not showcased, and are designed to boost police response times, safeguard officers, and intensify patrols in challenging terrain.

President Mahama declared [5].Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohunu pledged to deploy the vehicles strategically, ensuring they’re well-maintained and put to good use. He thanked the government for prioritizing police welfare.

The vehicle handover is part of a broader initiative to modernize Ghana’s police force and upgrade national security infrastructure. President Mahama also revealed plans to train police personnel in drone operations for enhanced surveillance.
