PARLIAMENT OF THE GHANAIAN ANATOMY APPROVE AN ANTI-LGBTQ BILL

The Ghanaian Anatomy’s Parliament has taken a bold step to criminalise LGBTQ Acts in the country. This comes with a unanimous amendment on the bill to make sanctions very harsh as both sides of The Ghanaian Anatomy’s Parliament endorsed the PROMOTION OF PROPER HUMAN SEXUAL RIGHTS AND GHANAIAN FAMILY VALUES BILL, 2022.

With this new ammendment, people who campaign or speak publicly for the defence of LGBTQ rights could be sanctioned to ten years in jail. People who are also found guilty in taking part in such acts could also face a three year jail term. The Bill is in the consideration stage which is the second stage and afterwards the third stage for the third reading and finalised into a law for the Ghanaian Anatomy.

One of the main proponents who has stood for the bill since its conception is Hon. Sam Nartey George; Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.

In 2022, LGBTQ tolerance billboards were destroyed. Some offices facilitating Land representing The LGBTQ community in Ghana were also shut down. The Ghanaian Anatomy in general is behind the enactment by the parliament of their country. Majority of Ghanaians are supporting the bill and are looking forward to it being implemented to become a law.
