Guinea’s President Mamady Doumbouya was sworn in on January 17, 2026, after winning the December 28, 2025, presidential election with 86.72% of the vote. The ceremony was attended by several African heads of state, including Rwandan President Paul Kagame, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Malian President Assimi Goita, and Gambian President Adama Barrow. Doumbouya, a former military leader, came to power in September 2021 after a coup that ousted longtime President Alpha Condé. He had initially pledged not to run for president but ultimately stood for election and won.
