The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has terminated the contract of head coach Marc Brys, just days before the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 kicks off. The decision comes after months of tension between Brys and FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o, with Brys citing unpaid salaries as the reason for his departure.

Brys, a Belgian national, had been at the helm of the Indomitable Lions since April 2024, guiding the team to eight victories, five draws, and one defeat. However, his tenure was marred by controversy, including a heated clash with Eto’o and disagreements over team management.

The sudden departure of Brys has left Cameroon’s preparations for AFCON 2025 in disarray, with the team facing defending champions Ivory Coast, Gabon, and Mozambique in Group F. FECAFOOT has announced an interim management team, led by David Pagou, to take over the reins.
