The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has recaptured Bara, a strategic city in North Kordofan state, bringing relief to civilians caught in the crossfire. This significant victory marks a turning point in the conflict, potentially easing pressure on El-Obeid and its vulnerable population.

The operation’s success is a testament to the SAF’s efforts, but concerns remain about civilian casualties and displacement. The RSF’s attacks on El-Obeid had already caused immense suffering, and the humanitarian impact of the conflict is dire.

Bara’s recapture could improve access to aid and services, but urgent action is needed to protect civilians and address the humanitarian crisis.
