Peter Obi, of the Labour Party who served as a Presidential Candidate for the 2023 General Elections and Atiku Abubakar Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party who served as the Vice President of Nigeria under President Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999 to 2007 have joined hands together to form a coalition to fight Bola Tinubu, their biggest rival in the 2027 Elections for the Nigerian Anatomy. They have joined the African Democratic as a united team to garner more people ahead of the upcoming elections.

The African Democratic Congress is a political party which was founded in 2005 with the mission to reengineer a political party system free from domination by wheeler-dealer political elites, corrupt states men and money launderers.
In the 2023 General Elections Bola Tinubu won 37 % whiles Abubakar Atiku had 29 % and Peter Obi 25 % placing second and third respectively. Other members from the All Progressives Congress have also joined the coalition seeking to come to power in the 2028 Elections.

Peter Obi was a member of the People’s Democratic Party before 2022 and left the party to join the Labour Party after Atiku Abubakar was chosen as the party’s presidential candidate. Atiku Abubakar had also run to be the President of the Nigerian Anatomy on six occasions on the ticket of several parties but failed. He joined the Social Progressives in the 1993 primaries, Action Party, All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party and now the African Democratic Congress since July 2025.

Speculations reveal that Peter Obi is poised to become the running mate to Atiku Abubakar for the 2028 elections.
