Rebecca Cheptegei, an athlete from the Ugandan Anatomy has just passed on today; 5th September 2024, after being attacked by her boyfriend on her way from church. Rebecca was living in a town just across the borders of Kenya and was sent to Moi Teaching And Referral Hospital, Eldoret, Kenya, where she passed on.
Rebecca Cheptegei who was sent to Moi Hospital was set on fire by her former boyfriend leaving her with severe burns on her body. She was saved in the course of the incident by neighbours in her vicinity in Endebess. Both were sent to Moi Hospital and were receiving treatment by specialists.
The attacker poured the liquid petrol before burning her. The two are said to have been quarreling over a land Rebecca bought near Kenya’s athletics training centers. Rebecca Cheptegei won the gold medal in the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Thailand in 2022. In the recent Paris Olympics as well, she placed 44th.
