Born on July 18th, 1918, in Mvezo, South Africa, Nelson Mandela emerged as a beacon of hope, leaving an indelible mark on the world. Mandela’s early life was marked by a strong sense of justice, which led him to join protests against the discriminatory dining arrangements at the University of Fort Hare in 1940. This bold stance resulted in his expulsion, but it was only the beginning of his illustrious fight for freedom. He went on to join the African National Congress (ANC) in 1944, eventually becoming the president of the ANC Youth League.

As a solitary figure, Mandela stood resolute, driven by his roots and an unwavering commitment to justice. He faced numerous trials, including the Rivonia Trial in 1963-1964, which led to his imprisonment at Victor Verster Prison.
