Lesotho was first ruled by King Moshoeshoe in 1822, who joined with other clans to fight against the reign of Shaka Zulu from 1818 to 1828 and Lifaqane under famine.

The Boers fought with the British settlers over the sovereignty of Basotholand. King Moshoeshoe had a conquest over the Boers in the Basotho War, but in the final war in 1867, Queen Victoria, who claimed part of Lesotho territories.

When the union of South Africa took place in 1910, the British wanted to add Lesotho, but the country gained full independence in October 1966.

These were a few words by Vice President of the Zimbabwean Anatomy; Mr. Mohadi. who is currently in Lesotho to join celebrate the country’s 58 years of independence from British rule. We are here to celebrate with the Basotho as they commemorate their 200 years since the founding of the Kingdom by King Moshoeshoe the First. We are here on behalf of the President, who is also the Sadc chairperson, and this gives us a lot of feelings and satisfaction to come and commemorate with one of our members. Lesotho is one of the countries that got their self-determination long before us and is Kingdom State under Moshoeshoe.”
