PROF. JANE OPOKU AGYEMANG, A RESOLUTE WOMAN OF DEFENSE

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang born on 22nd November 1951, is an academician who is serving currently as the vice president for the Ghanaian Anatomy after being sworn in on 7th January 2025.

She had her secondary education at the Wesley Girls Senior High School, then proceeded to the University of Cape Coast and had her Masers and Doctorate Degree at York University in Toronto, Canada. She was once the Minister for Education from February 2013 to January 2017 when President Mahama was first President, in his first tenure.

She was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast from 2008 to 2012 and the Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa located in Zimbabwe, from 2018 to August 2024.

In 2020, she was selected as the Vice Presidential candidate under President Mahama but lost after their party, National Democratic Congress lost, and was re-elected for the 2024 elections and won upon President Mahama’s outstanding victory in the December 7th elections.

She started working at the University of Cape Coast from 1986, was the Dean of the faculty of Arts, Head of the Department of English, Head of the Adehye Hall and the Founding Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Cape Coast.

She is a Godmother to AFRICAN VOICES INTERNATIONAL and we all from the African Anatomy continue to wish her the best in her pursuit of serving Mother Ghana and Africa.
