Ivory Coast’s recent presidential election featured two prominent women, Simone Ehivet Gbagbo and Henriette Lagou Adjoua, who threw their hats into the ring as candidates.

Simone Ehivet Gbagbo, the former First Lady of Côte d’Ivoire and leader of the Movement of Capable Generations (MGC), is known for her advocacy on national reconciliation and peace.

Henriette Lagou Adjoua, the former Minister of Social Affairs and Women’s Rights and leader of the Group of Political Partners for Peace (GP-Paix), is a vocal advocate for women’s rights and increased representation in politics.
Their participation in the election marks a significant milestone for women’s representation in Ivory Coast’s politics.
