Ghana and Zambia have taken a significant step towards strengthening bilateral ties with the signing of a visa-free travel agreement. The pact, announced during Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama’s three-day state visit to Zambia, allows citizens of both countries to travel freely between the two nations without the need for entry visas.
The agreement is expected to give a boost to tourism, trade, and people-to-people relations between Ghana and Zambia, while removing cumbersome bureaucratic hurdles faced by travelers. It aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which aims to promote regional integration and cooperation across the continent.

Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, hailed the agreement as a milestone in Ghana-Zambia relations, while Zambian authorities welcomed it as a demonstration of their commitment to open skies, open borders, and inclusive development.
The visa waiver agreement is seen as a significant step towards promoting peace, security, and sustainable development in Africa.
