Ghana is in mourning following the demise of former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings who passed on this Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, at the age of 76 at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was a trailblazer in Ghanaian politics and a stalwart advocate for women’s rights. As the founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, she worked tirelessly to promote women’s empowerment and social development. Her legacy as a politician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist continues to inspire many Ghanaians.
President John Mahama has declared a three-day national mourning period in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the nation. The government and people of Ghana join in celebrating her life and legacy.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was the Assistant Secretary of the Students Representative Council (SRC) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Additionally, she served as the General Secretary of Africa Hall, her hall of residence.

The bereaved family, led by her children, including Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, a Member of Parliament, has appealed for privacy and space during this difficult time.
