On 24th of February 1966, Dr. Nkrumah from the Ghanaian Anatomy was on a mission to Vietnam when he was told by the Ambassador of China to Ghana that, he had been deposed from power. This removal was spearheaded by Gen. Kotoka, Gen. Afrifa and Gen. Ankrah who after the coup, appeared days later on Ghana Television congratulating themselves on their easy success.

Dr. Nkrumah was invited by Ho Chi Minh: President of North Vietnam, to mediate in the conflict between South Vietnam and North Vietnam where North Vietnam was trying to reunify both states under communist rule. The conflict became worse when America provided military to Duong Van Minh: President of South Vietnam, in their quest to contain the communist attack from North Vietnam.

The coup plotters told the soldiers in Ghana that Dr. Nkrumah had planned to send them to fight in Vietnam and Zimbabwe. They were told lies like Dr. Nkrumah had taken 8 million pounds, and there was no government in the country to manage the country. These military men forced the surrender of various major generals after they removed Dr. Nkrumah from power. Almost all of Dr. Nkrumah’s 22 officials who were Ministers of State who were on the trip with him to Vietnam were dissolved. Some returned whilst some scared, settled in other countries like Hon. Quaison Sackey, who was the Foreign Minister and Hon. Kwasi Armah, who was the Minister of Trade.

President Nkrumah of the Ghanaian Anatomy received messages of encouragement from Presidents of countries like Sekou Touré of Guinea, Nasser of Egypt, Nyerere of Tanzania and Modibo Keita of Mali. The Secretariat of AFRICAN VOICES INTERNATIONAL condemns that shameful act that took place on the 24th of February, 1966. Dr. Nkrumah is the Godfather of the African Anatomy and continues to remain in that position, forever.
