The Togolese Anatomy headed by Faure Gnassingbe has not denied their stance of joining the Sahel Alliance filled with military held governments such as Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, who took over power between 2020 and 2023.
These military led governments have parted their strong relations with their former colonial powers; France, have exited ECOWAS and have joined together to form the alliance of Sahel States.
Faure Gnassingbe has been in power since 2005 after taking power from his father Eyadema Gnassingbe, who was in power from 1967 to 2005 when he passed on.
