A 30 meter high monument known as the Benin Amazone was unveiled in August 2022, to reflect the history of the Dahomey Kingdom and the Agoodie; women in Millitary who fought to defend the Dahomey Kingdom from the Colonial leaders. The Statue is located at the Esplanade des Amazones Public Square in Cotonou; Benin .

The Dahomey Kingdom was existant from 1625 to 1894. However on 19th September 1892, the Agoodies were defeated in the last fight by the French in ther last fight at Dogba. President Talon was very elated at the unveiling of this historic statue for the people of Benin and the African Anatomy as a whole. The statue represents Queen Tassi Hangbe , Queen who ruled Dahomey Kingdom after the death of her Brother and helped immensely to protect her people, now known as the Republic of Benin.

These were some words by President Patrice Talon at the unveiling of the statue. – “It is time to be aware and proud of what we are Benin: the successful fusion of these ancient great kingdoms and peoples that are the baatonou, berba, wassangari, yoruba, adja, fon, goun, waama, batammariba, yom , peulh, and many others; each as deserving as the other.” African Voices International commends the Government of Benin , for taking up this quintessential initiative towards rehabilitating the Anatomy of Africa’s history, for The Freedom of Africa.
