By: Isaac Kwabena Boadu Date: 9th October, 2025

Ghanaian rap sensation Sarkodie held his highly anticipated Rapperholic Homecoming concert at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on September 27, 2025. The event was a resounding success, with fans braving torrential rains to witness the spectacular performance.

The concert commenced late in the evening, featuring captivating performances from top Ghanaian artists such as Shatta Wale, Kuami Eugene, and Kofi Kinaata. Despite the inclement weather, the crowd remained enthralled, singing along to Sarkodie’s chart-topping hits.

Shatta Wale’s surprise appearance was a highlight of the evening, as he joined Sarkodie on stage, showcasing a moment of unity and mutual admiration between the two artists. This moment was particularly significant given their past differences.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the next installment of Rapperholic, with many expressing their enthusiasm on social media. The event’s success has raised the bar for future concerts in Kumasi.

Sarkodie received a warm welcome from the Ashanti kingdom, particularly from Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene. During a courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace, Sarkodie formally informed the Asantehene about the concert and sought his royal blessing. Otumfuo not only granted his blessing but also expressed his intention to attend the concert, which added to the event’s cultural significance.

Sarkodie has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to Ghanaian music, and his humility and respect for his peers were evident during the concert, where he showed deep appreciation to Obrafour, a veteran Ghanaian rapper.

Wizkid performed very phenomenally as usual and was full of energy at the concert. Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal and Alex Iwobi all from The African Anatomy were there to support their fellow Brother.

Yemi Alade of The Nigerian Anatomy has applauded The Black Entertainment Television Network, a TV Network that celebrates Africans from the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Industry. The Black Entertainment Television Network every year holds an awards festival which had become admired by people all over the world, to celebrate people with exceptional talents.

For the African scene, the awards was given to the winners backstage. This has been seen as very discriminatory and humiliating. However, the TV Network have stood up and change the settings of their programme, now. From hence, all the winners who are spotlighted from that category will now be awarded om the front-page instead of the backstage.

It is in this light that, award winning icon, Yemi Alade from The Nigerian Anatomy has highlighted this case and congratulated The Organisers of The Black Entertainment Television for acting in the right direction. In 2017 Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun known as Wizkid won the BET Best International Act but did not show up at the awards ceremony. Wizkid criticised the Management of BET and said he didn’t go because African Musicians were given the awards backstage. Since 2018, it has been different. When David Adedeji Adeleke known as Davido won Best International Act in 2018, he took the award in front of all the congregants at the front stage.

Yemi Alade has just released a new track by name FAKE FRIENDS and is expecting this to be a World Thriller.
